Hatfield Band
EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES POLICY
For the purpose of this statement
"the band"
will be in reference to Hatfield Brass band.
Hatfield Brass Band aims to be an equal opportunities group and
operates under a current Statement of Policy.
This Policy covers all aspects of a voluntary group from vacancy
advertising, recruitment of members and ongoing training to
conditions of membership.
The Band aims to reflect that of our community and steps will be
taken to help disadvantaged persons to become a part of our
organization.
The Policy
Wherever possible, all vacancies within the band will be advertised
simultaneously within the group and externally.
The Musical Director will make the decision as to whether an
applicant for a position within the band is of the necessary
standard required, and the committee will constantly review to
ensure that all decisions made are justifiable on
non-discriminatory grounds as being essential for the effective
performance of the band.
Underrepresented groups will be encouraged to apply for positions
within the band and wherever possible, special training will be
provided for such groups to prepare them to compete on genuinely
equal terms. However, actual membership for all positions will be
strictly on merit.
Wherever possible, efforts will be made to identify and remove
unnecessary/unjustifiable barriers and provide appropriate
facilities and conditions to meet the special needs of
disadvantaged and/or underrepresented groups.
The cooperation of all members is essential for the success of this
policy. However, ultimate responsibility for ensuring compliance
with the relevant Acts of Parliament as well as the various Codes
of Conduct lies with the elected committee members of the band.
Behavior or actions against the Statement of Policy will be
considered by the committee, and may lead to the dismissal of a
band member.
